Baroque Music Festival, Corona del Mar

$50The Festival strives to present the astounding wealth and diversity of music of the Baroque era (c. 1600-1750) in a wide variety of ways, at affordable prices. Large-scale works, with and without singers, are typically offered on our Sunday concerts, while during the weekday evenings between you will hear smaller scale vocal and chamber performances, all given by the finest musicians in the historically informed Baroque field.
June 16: London Fog, Italian Sunshine
Soloists from the Festival Orchestra will bring out the southern sun to banish the northern fog through the influence of Italian Baroque composers. Come for J.C. (“The London”) Bach’s Italianate Sinfonia Concertante for violin and cello, concerti grossi by Corelli, Geminiani (arranging Corelli) and Avison (arranging Scarlatti), Handel’s organ concerto “Cuckoo and Nightingale” and more—performed by the Festival Orchestra led by Elizabeth Blumenstock.
